THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the legal realm and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law - divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
